Varsity Derby League: Get in on the lurby

So you’re keen to get in on some Canberra skate action?

How about just a taste?

Ponder your skating future no longer, the Varsity Derby League fresh meat intake is on next week!

With four sessions to check out on April 1st, 3rd, 8th and 10th you’ve got no excuse not to get down to Varsity practice to find out if derby is a life for you.

Your first two sessions are free, so there’s no judgement or commitment if you find out skating isn’t your bag, baby. But remember, even if you’ve NEVER skated before, we can teach you how to get your skate on at your own pace as long as you give it your best shot.

We train at Woden Southern Cross Stadium on Sundays from 6pm and the Australian National University Sports and Recreation Centre on Tuesdays from 7.30pm.

Please bring as much protective and skating gear as you have, but don’t fret if you have no skates or the like, we’ll lend you some for a session.

BUT WE WILL NOT LEND YOU MOUTHGUARDS. Because that is gross. So bring your own, boil and bite mouth guards retail for like ten bucks from your pharmacy.

Looking forward to seeing you there and giving you all of the lurby*

*Wyckedly Wyld: “Lurby is a feeling that brings both joy and pain to the body. Joy from skating and conversations from girls who are so kind that no other sport can compare. Pain from the hip checks and knowing that I am always backed, that I am strong forever.”
