Star tests

Star tests are how we rank our skaters. Each test has specific skill requirements to pass before the skater can go up a level. You can take as long as you need to get to each skill level – we understand that everyone learns at a different pace.

White star is basic skills level.
Yellow is intermediate skills (scrimmage level).
Orange is advanced skills (bout level).

New referees can start learning to ref at scrim when they have passed the white star test, and referee at bouts when they pass the black star test, which has referee-specific skills.

VDL’s testing system is based on the WFTDA Minimum Skills – orange star is all of the WFTDA min skills.

Rules test

Yellow and Orange star skaters must complete the WFTDA multiple choice rules test before they can participate in scrim or bouts.
